Here are our the favourites to win the tournament. Odds shown are as of 29/11/22.

Brazil

Current Odds: 3.65

The current favourite to win the whole tournament, Brazil has incredible depth and team chemistry. No longer reliant on Neymar, they have the talent across the board. In Tite’s 76 games, they’ve scored 164 goals and let in just 27. The only question is, will their talent hold up when faced with European teams (who they haven’t played since 2019).

Argentina

Current Odds: 10

Messi, Messi, Messi. The otherworldly talent can make up for almost any deficit. After leading his team to win the 2021 Copa America, the only trophy he has yet to win is the World Cup — can he lead them to glory in Qatar? Coach Lionel Scaloni has stepped up for Argentina and taken the reins after it all went wrong in 2018. While their defense may be shaky, Argentina’s attacking firepower more than makes up for it.

France

Current Odds: 6.6

While their talent cannot be questioned, the World Cup 2018 champions are on shaky ground. With Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté injured, the French team will be missing key midfield players. The last three World Cup defending champs have been eliminated in the group stage. Can France break the trend?

Spain

Current Odds: 8.4

No one controls games better than Spain, for better or worse. Their midfield is absolutely stacked with Gavi, Pedri, Rodri, and Busquets. But can they score enough to go all the way? Depending on how you look at Euro 2020, they either don’t have enough top end goal scoring talent or they were incredibly unlucky. Definitely a team to watch!

England

Current Odds: 11

With their impressive run in 2018 and effort to make the Euro 2020 final, there is a lot to like about this team. Harry Kane is nearing Wayne Rooney’s goal record for England. Declan Rice seems to always be in the right place at the right time. However, the ACL injury of Ben Chilwell and questions surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold have led to some doubt ahead of the tournament. Do they have more questions than answers? A lot will fall on the shoulders of manager Gareth Southgate who knows that regardless of his contract he will, “be judged on what happens at that World Cup”.

Germany

Current Odds: 14.5

After a disappointing World Cup 2018 and Euro 2021, Germany is hoping that coach Hansi Flick can right the ship. If he can be anywhere near as successful as he was at Bayern Munich, German fans will be incredibly happy. After losing Timo Werner to injury, they will have a big question mark as to who will replace him. At least one of Gnabry, Havertz, or Müller will have to step up. Can the former champions capture the trophy once again?

Netherlands

Current Odds: 18.5

Coach Louis Van Gaal has a very balanced squad, led by the incredibly talented Van Dijk at centre-back. In their last fifteen matches, The Netherlands have not lost. To top it all off, they landed an absolute dream draw in Group A. But do they have enough goal scoring to go all the way?

Portugal

Current Odds: 14

Portugal will be making their eighth appearance in the World Cup, and coach Fernando Santos will hope that this golden generation can live up to their expectations. Unlike the usual conversation about Ronaldo making up for a flawed Portugal team, this World Cup is different. Portugal’s squad is filled to the brim with talent. But Ronaldo’s recent performance has led to questions about his role and even whether he could be benched. While the 37 year old is unquestionably capable of scoring incredible goals, how will Santos balance crucial minutes between him and a roster of young attacking talent?

Belgium

Current Odds: 80

Belgium finds itself on tentative footing following a third place finish in Russia in 2018. De Bruyne is unquestionably the star of the team and Courtois is one of the best keepers in the world. But, with Hazard a shell of his former self and Lukaku dealing with a hamstring injury, Belgium might struggle competing with the squad depth of other top teams.

Denmark

Current Odds: 80

An absolute fan favourite team, Denmark climbed all the way to the Euro semis and then continued their momentum during the World Cup qualifying. Denmark even beat France twice in the UEFA Nations League group stage. With Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest in Euro 2020, back and playing well, Denmark’s squad is looking strong. The biggest question is whether Kasper Schmeichel can handle the demands at goalkeeper. An inspirational and resilient team, Denmark is the dark horse of the tournament.
